Nasal Aspirator for Babies and Toddlers
Nasal Aspirator for Babies and Toddlers
The Baby-Vac™ Nasal Aspirator has been helping families with babies and young kids all over the world making it a must-have product for every family. Designed and developed by an award winning Hungarian scientist in 1994.
A runny nose is fairly common for babies and toddlers and in fact your child will have the cold on an average 6 times a year. One of the major problem is that small children are not able to blow their nose and it will take some time before an infant or a baby learns to breathe through the mouth. A stuffy nose will hinder breathing, can cause discomfort and may lead to more serious health problems concerning the ear, nose, throat and respiratory tract. Therefore, it is very important to keep the nasal cavity clear.
The Baby-Vac™ Nasal Aspirator is the most effective nasal aspirator, however it’s important to use it promptly and as often as needed. Basically the same way adults use tissues. The moment the nose is blocked or starts dripping we reach for a tissue to blow our nose and clear the blockage, looking for relief and easier breathing. The Baby-Vac™ does exactly the same for a child who hasn't yet learnt how to blow their nose. Don't be afraid to use it as frequently as necessary. The relief it brings a child is invaluable as well as the rest parents get while the child is able to sleep, eat and feel better.
The Baby-Vac™ Nasal Aspirator effectively and safely removes mucus from the nasal cavity in an efficient and gentle manner. By removing mucus from the nasal cavities the breathing and general well-being will be immediately improved, and in case of sickness the speed of recovery will accelerate. Importantly, it helps in the prevention of more serious health problems. The Baby-Vac™ has been clinically tested and approved. It is recommended by paediatricians and ENT specialists from around the world. For more details please refer to the research conducted by the Medical University of Vienna.
Please note a check-up by a health professional is not replaceable and only a doctor can diagnose the cause of a nasal secretion.
For removing mucus effectively you will need a continuous suction like a hospital aspirator machine would provide but these machines are quite expensive and not available for domestic use. Using baby vac will give you the same effect at your own home being gentle and pain free and just as effective.
The Baby-Vac™ nasal aspirator is self-regulating and is designed to work safely and effectively on a household vacuum cleaner, automatically adjusting and reducing the suction power. The use of a vacuum cleaner makes it possible to suck continuously and the secretion can be effectively removed from all parts of the nasal cavity.
Prepare your child for the aspiration. This is an easy process with infants as they are not bothered by the noise of vacuum cleaner being used to the noise while they were still in mummy’s tummy. With toddlers you just have to let them to take it in their own stride, you don’t want this to become a bad experience. You can show them on yourself what you do with it, laugh and act like it tickles your nose (which it does) so they won’t worry as they see this won’t hurt them. You can let them help you to assemble Baby-Vac™, toddlers love to help. Sitting / upright position is recommended for the aspiration. In order for the mucus to be suctioned easily, we recommend that the nostrils be moist (for example after bathing) or you can use a saline solution 5-10 minutes prior using Baby-Vac™.
1. Insert the evacuator (A) into the collecting cylinder (B).
2. Turn on your household vacuum cleaner.
3. Insert the vacuum cleaner adapter (C) into the attachment hose on the vacuum.
Disassembly
Remove the vacuum cleaner adapter (C) from the operating vacuum, and then turn it off.
Cleaning and maintenance
Wash the device with warm soapy water straight after use, so that is ready for its next use. If there are spots that are not removed, soak in warm soapy water for 5 minutes, also use the brush provided.
It is NOT recommended to use any kind of disinfectant as it will damage the product. Not dishwasher safe.
Always rinse thoroughly with water and allow to dry completely before storing away.

It's not painful, and we recommend trying it on yourself if you still have any doubts. The suction of the mucus may feel awkward at first, but a child usually becomes used to this and we’ve received feedback from parents that older children even ask for their nose to be cleaned as they become aware of the relief it brings.
No, it isn't. The Baby-Vac™ sucks with the help of the vacuum cleaner, but not with its full strength as it is self-regulated. Thanks to a vacuum cleaners continuous sucking the secretion can be removed from all parts of the nose.
Yes, of course, the Baby-Vac™ is safe to use on newborns and even premature babies once discharged from the hospital*. It is particularly important to remove mucus for infants as they can’t breathe through their mouth, and as a result they are unable to suck or sleep. The Baby-Vac™ has been specifically designed and clinically proven to be gentle and safe for newborn babies.
It is recommended to use the Baby-Vac™ as often as the child requires his/her nose to be blown.
No, there aren't. The effect and result is similar to blowing your nose. The mucus is removed from the nasal cavity.
The secretion cannot be effectively removed from the nasal cavities unless you have strong continuous suction. The Baby-Vac™ was designed to be specifically used with a vacuum cleaner.
The Baby-Vac™ doesn't need to be fully sterilised. It's enough to sterilise only the evacuator (A) by immersing it into boiling water occasionally. You can also clean the nose tip with isopropyl. However, washing the device with hot soapy water after every use is necessary.
It depends on the child. Some are afraid at first, but usually get used to the noise of the vacuum cleaner which may be frightening. Once children realise the benefits they even try to use it themselves, however it is recommended parents handle the apparatus.
The Baby-Vac™ is specially designed to remove mucus from babies and children aged 0-6 as they are not able to blow their noses effectively. However, this nasal aspirator can be also used by adults and the elderly when their health, physical condition or another circumstances doesn't enable them to remove nasal secretions by blowing their nose.
Use it from newborn to pre-schooler age
Young babies don't develop the reflex to breathe through their mouths until they are 3 or 4 months old.
"Saved us from a lot of sleepless nights and lingering shots! I would recommend the Baby-Vac to all parents of young children! Thanks Babyvac!" by Jes, 2016, Buddina QLD
Your child is unique and you will soon find the best approach which works for you and your little one while using the Baby-Vac™. However, we would like to share some useful tips to assist you in commencing using the Baby-Vac™ in the most effective and pleasant way.
Baby-Vac™ is easy to use and some older kids even enjoy to clean their noses by themselves, or assisting while cleaning tiny noses of their younger siblings. However, we always recommend the procedure be done by an adult.
All you need is a vacuum cleaner (800 to 1800 Watts). If the mucus is runny it should come out easily. In case it's a bit dry it is recommended to loosen it with saline drops or spray prior to using the Baby-Vac™. You can also use saline drops or spray after the procedure to moisten the dry nasal cavity. Once the passage is clear it's also a good time to apply any doctor prescribed nasal drops if required. The transparent tubing allows you to monitor the amount and consistency of the extracted secretion. You'll truly be astonished how much mucus you can get out of that tiny nose, depending on how severe the runny nose is.
You may experience that infants stay calmer or even find the noise of the vacuum cleaner soothing, while toddlers may get frightened and make it difficult to hold them still as they are more aware of what’s happening around them. We recommend to place the child or infant in a sitting / upright position, preferably holding the child in your lap until he/she feels comfortable with this apparatus. Remember the procedure is pain free and gentle. You are not hurting your child! Conversely, children feel the relief immediately, exactly the same as after we blow our blocked and stuffy noses.
