Prepare your child for the aspiration. This is an easy process with infants as they are not bothered by the noise of vacuum cleaner being used to the noise while they were still in mummy’s tummy. With toddlers you just have to let them to take it in their own stride, you don’t want this to become a bad experience. You can show them on yourself what you do with it, laugh and act like it tickles your nose (which it does) so they won’t worry as they see this won’t hurt them. You can let them help you to assemble Baby-Vac™, toddlers love to help. Sitting / upright position is recommended for the aspiration. In order for the mucus to be suctioned easily, we recommend that the nostrils be moist (for example after bathing) or you can use a saline solution 5-10 minutes prior using Baby-Vac™.
Assembling Baby-Vac™
1. Insert the evacuator (A) into the collecting cylinder (B).
2. Turn on your household vacuum cleaner.
3. Insert the vacuum cleaner adapter (C) into the attachment hose on the vacuum.
Disassembly
Remove the vacuum cleaner adapter (C) from the operating vacuum, and then turn it off.
Cleaning and maintenance
Wash the device with anti-bacterial, non-corrosive soapy water, so that it is ready for its next use, if there are spots that are not removed, soak it 5 minutes in soapy water.
It is recommended to sterilize part (A) of the evacuator by immersing it in water with drops of disinfectant (like Dettol) since it is the part that is in direct contact with your baby or child.
Rinse thoroughly with water and allow to dry.
